Well Santa was good to me and I got some new gear. I installed linux and dont have any sounds, My sound card is an onboard with the mother board. My motherboard is an AOPEN AX4B-533(N) ive checked there site and couldnt find anything. Im starting to think that maybe my on board sound isnt suported? need some help, cuz im running out of ideas over here. Thanks in advance.

Interesting. I have a similar problem with RH 8.0 and an Asus A7N266-VM which also has onboard sound (and LAN).

No information on the Asus site, nor can I find any other sites with help...

Yeah, me too. I am running red hat 8. My onboard sound card is a vc97. Everybody with this soundcard has a problem...

Well i cheaped out and got a new sound card, some P.O.S heh, works well.

Ah, so that's the way of it, eh? :o

I do have an old Creative SB16 that I could shove into an available PCI slot...

Go get alsa driver. It works.
