I am new to the Linux world and was recently asked by one of my college teachers to analyze and give my opinion on an example question. The question is "Assume the role of a system admin and formulate a plan to perform backup and restore on a system. You will also give a security plan for this system. The system is a Linux system, and is made up of 10 servers and 50 dumb terminals. It has been set up in a big city, which lies directly on a fault line and hence, is earthquake-prone. There are about 100 users. Some of the users login remotely using either 'rlogin' or 'telnet'. As the place is small and the budget is limited, the network might be physically insecure. Most of the users come in to browse the Internet or create and edit text files and have little or no security awareness. There are a few users who tutor some students in IT courses, who also use the system. Usually, there are no users between 2a.m. and 5a.m.
The backup and restore plan should address the following questions:What is a good backup medium? What tools and/or commands could be used for backup? What is a good backup strategy? What is a good time for performing system maintenance tasks and backups? And, any other concerns to make sure data does not get lost.
The security plan should include answers to the following questions: What types of security problems could there be? What could be done to enhance user awareness of security concerns? What tools could be used to prevent system break-ins?"

I have answered most of these questions, but I don't know how correctly. Any help in putting together this plan would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
