hey all, been searching this forum for quite a while and like to think that i have helped a few people......anyway

I have this little problem with my linux box, it is setup as a server, with no X installed, I had it upstairs on a passthrough cable to my laptop so I can ssh into it, i deciided that i would move it downstairs and plug it into the router....(it was on a wireless connection for the rest of the inernal network)....this way the connection to it would be more stable. the prolem i have is that when it boots the router cannot ping it....so i installed a second nic and set it up to be a totally seperate network to plug the laptop into....when i boot i can ssh into the LB on 10.0.0.1 network where the rest of the house is 192.168.0.1 network on eth0......I have added the gateway for eth0 and the Lb won't ping the router either, destination unreachable,.....the wierd thing is that if i restart the network

/etc/init.d/network restart

without changing anything everything works.....
any ideas i hope?

thanks in advance

Well I checked all the network settings, all is the way it should be, so I just wrote a shell script to monitor the network if it goes down to restart. this corrected any porblem i was having...
