Downloaded the 3 iso files for Mandrake 9.0, I cannot get the installation started. I used iso downloads for mdk 8.1, 8.2 and 9.0 beta and had no problem installing.

I'm running a Win2k/Linux system, with my default partition as Win2k (maybe this is the problem), and want to do a clean install of mdk9.0. On a reboot the installation does not start. If I mount the cdrom drive and click on the file it still does not start.

Suggestions.

TIA Brock

You know I had the same problem. I installed Mandrake from a disk some guys had from the UT chapter of the ACM during one of their "Linux Installfests" and about a week later decided that computer was too damn slow. So I got a new box and bought a new hard drive, I downloaded and burned the ISO to a CD and then when I tried to boot up the system, nothing happened. I finally broke down and just bought it...oh no, not $11.99 after shipping! Check out http://www.cheapbytes.com and get Mandrake from them. It's $6.99 and then $5 for shipping...seriously $11.99 is just slightly more money than I make in one hour of work. It's not that much. If you can't get it to work (I never did) just buy it.

Be sure to check the MD5 sums of the isos you download. With something that big, it's always good to verify (I had one bad MD5 sum when I downloaded mdk9 recently, so it DOES happen!)

Or, as JohnT says, just buy a cheap set of CDs from somewhere, and avoid the hassle.
