Could be a good project if you have the time to spend on it. mangeli 01-09-2001, 11:00 AM Originally posted by mdwatts: Don't think it can be done. I've been trying, but I get a cannot execute a binary error.... so I'm not too optimistic..... mdwatts 01-09-2001, 11:16 AM How about Microsoft support? http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/eek.gif mangeli 01-09-2001, 11:37 AM Originally posted by mdwatts: How about Microsoft support? http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/eek.gif There isn't any for installing it on Linux. But if you go to http://www.microsoft.com/unix/ie/ it pulls up the info on IE for HP-Unix. IE is the best product that Microsoft has out on the market right now.... mdwatts 01-09-2001, 12:03 PM I wouldn't imagine Bill would allow it. My suggestion was meant to be somewhat funny. The only mention of Linux at microsoft.com is how much better NT is. We all agree on that of course. In his dreams... I'm using IE 5.5 at this moment and couldn't agree more with you. The one product I do hope that MS ports to Linux. Bill has to surrender eventually. He did with Netscape. mdwatts 01-09-2001, 12:05 PM You could check the Wine Project at www.winehq.com (http://www.winehq.com) or org and see if anyone has had any success with running IE5 through wine. YaRness 01-09-2001, 12:10 PM just apt-get the source and compile it yourself. <edit> holy crap they really did port it, i thought you were just joking around. ------------------ "Assembly of Japanese bicycle require great peace of mind." [This message has been edited by Muzzafarath (edited 09 January 2001).] pbharris 01-09-2001, 01:48 PM ie on pa-risc would probably break down on x86. different instuctions, endian modes... you probably need the source and modify it. anyway, it would nopt be worth it. i tried ie on hpux and it sucked sucked sucked. of course i don't like it much on windows either.... justlinux.com
