I don't know about the adsl but you can always bring up a terminal window but clicking on the terminal emulation icon on the bottom left corner on the panel. Else you can also open up a virtual terminal by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1 to F4 and switch back by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F7.
Hope this helps... I'm rather new myself.. less than a month's experience of using linux.

Edit "/etc/inittab"
look for line:
id:5:initdefault:
change 5 to 3 i think.
Im not sure about this, read the RH documentation! Its all there somwhere.

What I would do is run Xconfigurator. In your case, you would have to logout of Gnome to do it. You would also need to know the sync speed and resolution which Xconfigurator will ask you. I didn't, I just experimented. If everything is ok, they will give you the option to startx or not startx at boot.

Just make sure the sync speed is not too high or the monitor will catch fire. That's what they say and I didn't take any risk at that.

i have a very similar situation, make sure you input your ip information during the install (or select dhcp, whichever is appropriate) and you'll be reading LNO thru redhat in no time.
hope this helps
