Windowz fonts in Linux

How do bring windowz font in Linux... I'm mostly talking about font that can use for graphics and stuff like that! I've read somewhere that you had to create some sort of a ttf directory somewhere :confused:

I don't remember where I read that exactly but could somebody please enlighten me on this subject?
