I just installed Linux Mandrake 9.0 on my computer. Everything seems to be working fine and dandy (all that i know how to do so far) besides the sound card. I currently have a Creative SoundBlaster AWE64 ISA card in there, but there is no sound. I tried Linux RedHat 7.2 before and it picked the soundcard right up. If theres ANYTHING you can do to help, it would be greatly appreciated! you can email me if you like. thank you for your help....

did mandrake detect your sound card during the inital install? I would try this
from a terminalwindow konsole type
su (press Enter)
then @ the password prompt type your root password
then at the root prompt type sndconfig this command should bring up a tool that will try to autodetect your soundcard & load the correct module. I think most creative cards use the EMUK101 module ( my card does see my sig)
if sndconfig does not work you could try the command modprobe EMUK101 froma terminal also & see if it finds & loads the module for you! if you need to install soundconfig it should be on the MD CD's sust launch rpmdrake & search for it! if not you can get it from here http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/contribs71/sndconfig-0.39-3mdk.i586.html
if soundconfig works your sound should also work! what happens when you try to play a CD or MP3 do the players come up? & start playing without sound? if so you might want to check the mixer settings in your CD player software & XMMS for MP3 make sure nothing is muted!

Have a look at what I posted in this thread (http://linuxnewbie.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83029&highlight=%2Fproc%2Finterrupts) as it should also pertain to a ISA soundcard.
