When I use the AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) program i can not hear any of the sounds that are associated with the program but if i use a different program like xmms i can hear the sounds. The command that AIM uses to play the sounds is esdplay. I tried looking for the website for this program to see if there is an updated version but i couldn't find the website. is there anyway to get the sounds working?
thanks,
pepper

AIM is using the E Sound Daemon, or esd.

is there a way to get the sounds to work with that deamon. I can't get them to work. I have looked at the sound server options in kde. I tested the sounds and i heard the sounds that kde makes when it boots. However when I boot up into kde i can not hear the sound and when i use aim. I am thinking of reinstalling redhat 8.0 to fix the sound problem but i am not sure if that will fix the problem.

esd is the Sound Daemon for GNOME.
kartsd is the Daemon for KDE.
There is probably a way to set it for oss. Or use another program like GAIM.
