Root Password

Sorry if this is an easily searchable topic, but I couldn't successfully search the forums today. How does one change root's password? I have changed the passwords of users through a tool in the Drakeconf (Mandrake 7.2) before but didn't find an option for changing root's password there. Thanks in advance.

at the command prompt as root
$passwd <enter>
it will then ask for your new passwd
