Nobody's Hero

I have an nVidia GeForce 2 (64 MB) graphics card. I am running RedHat 8.0 with kernel 2.4.18-19.8.0. I want to upgrade my video drivers.
I wento to the nVidia site and followed the links for my card and my OS.
Their are two files one must download, the GLX driver file, and the kernel driver file. The kernel driver file has many versions for different distributions and kernel versions. The latest RedHat kernel listed is 2.4.18-18.8.0. According to the instructions, "If you are using a distribution or kernel version that is ... an updated ... kernel, you must build the kernel module." So I downloaded the source files, instead of the distribution specific RPMs.
According to the instructions, it seems I'm supposed to install the kernel driver first by extracting it and then running "make install." But everytime I do this, all I get is a lot of errors to the screen.
How do I install the kernel driver file?
Thanks.
BTW, I'm a newbie, so please be specific in your instructions :)
