Nuthin but TROUBLE!!!

*argh!!!* Mandrake 8.0 is driving me nuts! First off, TuxRacer won't work. I don't know why...secondly, KDE plays my mp3's all messed up (too fast with poping noises) thridly, Gnome is messed...my drives won't auto mount and i don't know how to mount them on the gui. Last off, KDE displays fonts really really poorly. wassup with that? I did an expert install to get the options that i wanted, got lilo on a disk, etc, etc...uninstalling the OS is really tumultuous and i did it like 4 times already cos nothin seemed to work fine. Anyway, I'm hoping that someone can help me answer those questions above!!

2) mp3's in KDE
3) mounting drives on the gui
4) geting the font to display correctly in KDE

and i have on more request...if there are any experts out there that can help me out with installing VMware 2.X in Mandrake...

You probably don't have hardware opengl support. If you're using an Nvidia card you need to install the drivers from Nvidia.

Hmmm, I don't know. Try xmms.

Drives should be automatically mounted. What type of drives aren't being automatically mounted? CDROM? Floppy?

Yep fonts are screwed up by default. You can adjust things though, in konqueror you can change the fonts it uses and increase the minimum size which helps a lot.

Mandrake 8.1 is just about to come out so you might consider just waiting for it since I'm sure a lot of these issues will be addressed.

You should know that crossposting is frowned upon. It's also stated in the Linuxnewbie FAQ's.

Besides it's not really fair to others, but I guess you know that.

Malakin--Thanks for your very helpful advice!!! you totally saved me tons of trouble :) i think i will wait for mandrake 8.1

mdwatts the 3rd--you didn't really help me with this topic, but now i know that i shouldn't "cross-post". a man's gotta stick to his principles! thanks for clarifying that for me.
