I just installed Mandrake 9.0, and I am having soundcard issues. I currently have a turle beach santa cruz card installed and a OSS driver for it.
Problem: It sounds like crap! and it cuts off after a few mp3 tracks until I reboot.
Question: Is there any sound cards with full linux support or just these Jeri-Rigged drivers that offer partial functionality?
Under nhf-soundcards, Sound blaster live 5.1 is mentioned, does this work fully or just enough get you by?

The front speakers work. The rear speakers are stereo mirrored. I have no problems with mine.
You might try the alsa drivers, though.

Thanks for the reply,
I am very disappointed in lack of hardware support in Linux Mandrake. Win2K is still light years ahead in this area, but I believe I have a solution for my problem here.

You can blame the hardware mfg's for that. They're the ones supplying drivers for windows and not linux. I think the drivers that are available for linux are quite an acheivement considering the amount of work that goes into them, without mfg.'s support.
BTW you might want to take a look at your kernel configuration, if you haven't, to optimize for your card.

Thanks for your reply's. I gave in and switched my primary OS back to win2k. I can't go without my speaker surround sound despite my hate for microsoft. I have 10 gigs available to tinker with mandrake/redhat until I can fully convert.
