I ahve been struggling with this one for ages and still cannot get it to work.
The issue is of course XP.

In haace created a samba user and smbpasswd - fine. Its the same as the one I log onto the Win XP pc, and there is a user setup for Linux that is also the same.

Workgroup is the same, and I ahve setup a public directory, aswell as left the Home one still in smb.conf.

Encrypted passwords is set.

In Windwows Network Neighbourhood I can see the workgroup, and the Linux pc. When I click on it I get asked for a username and password, wont let me not enter one. OK, so I tyoe in the username that I have entered in smbpassword and smbuser. NO - wont let me in. I know this is a XP issue as never had this issue with Win2k.

Can anyone help?

Scott

Your not trying to login by root by any chance are you? Most likely not since you had this running before.
