Hi,

Can you please tell me if linux can handle 100Gb harddisk. I'm planning to get the new maxtor 100 Gb HDD but it comes with an ATA133 interface card. Can I install this in linux? Im using RH7.1
Thanks in advance for the help.

Poking around on google groups it looks like the drive works fine in Linux, but I'm not sure if it works fine with the ata133 card.

Who's there?

Well???

Of the small amount of members that are online here at LNO during the wee hours of the morning, I would not imagine many would know if ata133 is supported or not. I certainly don't.

If you can get the controller to work, then I would think it would only run the same as the ata100.

You might want to have a look around www.kernel.org (http://www.kernel.org) to see if they have plans to support ata133 or perhaps contact them and ask.

thanks, but does linux works on ATA100 instead or can i use the drive without the card just the ide cable.
I cant try it without buying it and if it doesnt work i'll be left with an expensive paper weight on my hands.
