Hi, I already read through the NHF's but couldn't find my answeer. Anyways, I was wondering how I could configure My Linux box to grab/stream files from my windows PC upstairs. Both of them are on a router and have net access.

What version of Windows are you running? I would start using Windows XP on my other computer, or W98 possibly would be OK. Read the help files for a peer to peer connection and use the Wizard to set it up.
I know next to nothing about Linux, but am having fun and success running an internet desktop on Mandrake 9.0, Very easy to set up, but use KDE for your internet connection rather than any other option.
You will need to use Samba. Samba is a Linux implementation of the SMB protocol, which Windows boxes use to share files and printers. It probably comes on your distribution's CDs, or check out samba.org. There's a lot to it, so I bet you'll be asking questions. Just read through the man pages for smb.conf to get a good idea of how it works. Also, check out the SMB howto on www.tldp.org.

Ok, so I need Samba to get Windows to use Linux files, but what about using Windows files on a Linux? (different PC's)

If you can't get it working you can always use SWAT.

Swat comes with Redhat (not sure if it comes with any others). It's a GUI way of setting up Samba. I never used it before until about a month ago just to see how it works and overall I'm pretty happy with it. It stands for Samba Web Administration Tool. It's nothing you can't do in CLI...just like Webmin does nothing special that I can't do in CLI...but they are "neat" tools. Check it out yourself...
