I want to boot to a cd to achieve a dual boot. in the CMOS settings, i have set the first thru third boot devices to CD-rom, and that fourth to IDE-0. However, red hat's frickin' boot loader is somehow bypassing the Slackware8.1 cd. And just to make sure it isn't a bad cd I used a M$ cd-WinXP- which was also trumped by red hat's grub. How would I solve this problem(removing the redhat partition is acceptable)?
In other words, how the do I remove GRUB?

Your BIOS is not setted up to boot from CD or your cdrom cant boot . Red hat is not evil.
You can return to previous windows conditions by running fdisk /mbr

Well, what happens when you set the fourth to cdrom also?
A lot of the times there will be a spot when booting that will say something like "Boot from cd?..." and give you a few seconds to hit enter or whatever. Also, sometimes cd drives just don't know how to boot from cd. There are two standards, el torito and something else I think. If you haven't *ever* booted from cd on this drive before, make sure it supports this.
