I have just installed Storm Linux on a machine and I must admit I do like it and on the verge of liking it more than mdk.

I am trying to use apt-get update and it says nothing to install or something, i uncommented the 3 ftp sites, and now it is doing something

one question, as i have never seen beyong this, i have seen people on here posting things like
apt-get dhcpd or words to that effect but i want to know how they knew what app to put in, does it give you a list of possible applications to download or what?

ps i am trying to get into debian and i think i have found an easier way into it initially.

to search for a package with apt in your listed sources, type
apt-cache search <package> where <package> is what you want to search for.
U should check out the apt NHF.

Stormix has gone down (bankruptcy). Change your /etc/apt/sources.list to ftp.debian.org or try http://www.progeny.com and upgrade to their distro.

Strange, that's not what their website said when I checked it. It looks like they're branching out into hardware.
