I'm new to linux and linuxnewbie.org. I installed Red hat Linux 7 and I choose the wrong configuration for my monitor. I didn't have the manual and its some vga generic brand(1998) I got from a friend. When I boot, I get to the screen with the Gnome footprint and red hat icons. Those are the only things I can make out. Is there anyway I could change the setting during boot. I had the same problem with window, but using F8 it was able to detect the proper VGA settings, I'm not sure it this is possible with Linux, if you know I sure would appreciate the help. Thanks, btw my video card is a trident 3Dimage 9750.

1. Press Ctrl-Alt-F1 to get to a console.

2. Login as root

3. Use the command init 3 to kill off X

4. Type Xconfigurator (or poss XConfigurator) to reconfigure X

5. Type init 5 to restart graphic login mode
