i have been having trouble when it comes to my sound card, when i first installed linux it thought that my sound card was a 82801CA/CAM AC'97 made by intel but in windows it says its a YAMAHA AC-XG. when i try to play a sound file it lags and becomes choppy. im running redhat 8.0 on a sony grx670(http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=F3LHVyzuUBjHaRL6z7nNXGPiMHiNY-x4qLM=?CatalogCategoryID=IQsKC0%2eNdr0AAADyxmg8lSw T&ProductID=cj4KC0%2eN2uAAAADyfjM8lSwg&Dept=cpu)
any knid of a reponce will be very much appreciated.


P.S. Im a linux newbie so when u respond u have to talk very very........ very slowly. thanks:confused:

I did find a few hits with a G4L search for YAMAHA AC-XG (http://www.google.com/linux?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=YAMAHA+AC-XG&btnG=Google+Search) where you should be able to find out what sound modules/drivers it uses and if you are using the correct ones.

lsmod (list loaded modules) to check.
