Question about compiling 2.4

I have kernal 2.2.16 (slack 7.1) and want to move up to 2.4. My question is do I go straight to 2.4 or do I have to do 2.2.17, 2.2.18 and so forth first and then go to 2.4?

You dont' have to go 2.2.17 .18 .19

you can just goto 2.4

I also run Slackware 7.1. Don't forget to upgrade ppp.tgz and modutils.tgz from slackware-current before trying to install the 2.4.0 kernel.
