I've posted a few times here and gotten 0 replies. I'm guessing the problem is too difficult and linuxnewbie is not the right place to ask.

This seems like more of a place where the moderators do the google search for people who don't want to.

My question is where would you suggest I post? Where do the "senior grasshoppers" go when they have an issue.

I've done my homework on this problem. It's not in the manual, and I've googled my brains out.

Where have you guys found the best help?

Getting on IRC turns up some help alot of times in some of the linux rooms.

When worse comes to worse I've got some friends I ask (which I understand doesn't help you). Have you tried calling tech support for the wireless card? I know it's usually really tough getting support for anything when you tell them you run linux...but it's worth a try.

LrnLnx,
I looked over one of your posts. Seems like you got most of the info. I would mention what specific card I'm using. Also a quick summary of my hardware (motherboard, processor) might help since it is a driver/hardware issue. I'm going to wager a pretty generic guess that the card isn't supported, or you need to throw a specific option to make it work.

I would recommend you go to a more specific site for info. http://www.linux-wlan.com/linux-wlan/ seems to be the place. (That's the driver your using right?) They have FAQs there, if you haven't read them, then do. Then go to the mailing list. They seem pretty nice and expect you to send the email w/o subscribing. Send what you had in your previous post with the info mentioned. Make sure to report what card you are using. Even if it is an "easy"/well known problem you should get a nice reply. You might want to browse the mailing list first. Your problem might just be right there and you can see what is expected from problem reports.

That's pretty much the procedure for finding more info about a Linux problem. Linuxnewbie is a pretty general site, and it's a great place to start looking. I don't know too many other general Linux fourms, but I have noticed some distro vendor setting up their own.

Good Luck,
chris
