Out of Range Error for Tux Racer

Everytime I try to start up Tux Racer, I get this out of ranger error on my monitor, and can't get out of it so I have to reboot. How do I fix this?

edit ~/.tuxracer/options

try changing video setting there.

I'm a lil late on this post, but after a few years away and having to get tux back on the hill i had the same problem.

whoo hoo, now to get past the bunny hill!
