hey guys. i just installed xchat-1.8.10 and it runs in konsole, altho i have herd that it has a gui interface. can anyone help me to get the gui goin?

huh? there are no gui features at all? I have no idea what you are talking about. Xchat is a GUI driven irc client. How did you install it? What distro? more info please...

rofl wow thats wierd. ok i it was a tarball file. i extracted it, ran ./configure, then did make, and them make install. i ran x-chat and it opened up inside that console. here is the disrto i used xchat-1.8.10.tar.bz2

thnks for the help cuz i always seem to figure how to screw things up :P

and no it doesnt look anything like those screenshots. all of it is contained in console. i was wondering if i needed some ghey windows emulator or something. im such a linux newbie

WIERD dude...can you get us a screenshot of it please?

x-chat is an X server client (read: GUI). *****X is the console client of choice.

I'm such an x-chat fan I even have it installed on my windows machine.

Where did you download it from? www.xchat.org? If not then you may have a tainted copy. Get it from xchat.org

i downloaded it from xchat.org. its wierd as hell it only works in console.
it displays xchat as a basic irc client with no pulldown menus. i have to type in commands to join servers and channels. i need help. i installed just as the directions said. maybe i am opening the wrong executable???
