So, just found out that Linux is not Linux per se. Actually it's Linux/GNU operating system.

Linux only covers the kernel. While the rest is GNU....so I've become to understand it.

Hmm...this is rather confusing, is anybody w/ me on this?

Don't worry too much about it. Strictly speaking, yes, "Linux" is only the kernel but use of the word "Linux" to describe a full distribution is so common only RMS and the Debian team use "GNU/Linux." I'd be at pains to avoid associating myself with either of them if I were you.
