Just wondering if anyone here has used a new OS called QNX. It is a Unix like OS that is completely POSIX compliant. Although it isn't as 'complete' as any Linux distributions its getting there quickly. And its fast, damn fast.

Sorry for the off topic post I was just curious if anyone had used it and what they thought

You just read the latest issue of Maximum PC didn't you. :p

I have never used it myself but any os that can fit on a floppy is good enough for me.

ummm no I didn't actually. I've been running QNX as my primary OS for about 2 months now. I'm running the QNX Realtime Platform (QNX RTP) which is different to the version which runs of a floppy.

Actually the QNX RTP can be installed into its own partition (actually it runs better in its own). And yes Quake 3 is available but unfortunately my hardware isn't supported as of yet so I haven't had a chance.

If you want a copy of the QNX RTP that installs to its own partition go to http://********.qnx.com

QNX Windows is not new. I work at a Hospital and we have sleep study machines that run it. And we've had the for several years.

Yeah, QNX has been out for quite some time but is just getting some new press due in part to the linux popularity.

The only issue I had with it was the fact that it made itself the bootable partition and wouldn't multi-boot with windows. I took it off but it wasn't too bad. It is just another *nix-like OS.

There are a lot more apps for linux though and the 128 bit encryption on the browser is not accepted at some sites as they require either Netscape or IE.

I have a copy of the floppy version lying around somewhere. Picked it up almost a year ago, I think, but I was disappointed in its hardware support and that it wouldn't access my harddrive at all. Of course, the better RTP would.
