Just an old fashion kernel update. Following instructions from: http://www.redhat.com/support/docs/howto/kernel-upgrade/kernel-upgrade-3.html

# ls -l /boot/vmlinuz*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 Jan 28 09:51 /boot/vmlinuz -> vmlinuz-2.2.16-3
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 620247 Jun 20 2000 /boot/vmlinuz-2.2.16-3
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 594795 Jun 19 2000 /boot/vmlinuz-2.2.16-3BOOT
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 648343 Jun 20 2000 /boot/vmlinuz-2.2.16-3smp

# /sbin/mkinitrd /boot/initrd-2.2.16-3.img 2.2.16-3

I downgraded to a previous version and it worked (I think):

/sbin/mkinitrd /boot/initrd-2.2.16-3.img 2.2.16-3
