I'm in a bit of a fix here. Here is my partitioning scheme:
1) Primary - FAT32 - Windows ME (C:)
2) Primary - Linux swap - Swap (Red Hat)
3) Primary - ext2 - Linux Native (/) (Red Hat)
4) Primary - Extended*
1. Logical - FAT - WinMe (D:)
2. Logical - FAT - WinMe (E:)
2. Logical - FAT - WinMe (F:)
2. Logical - FAT - WinMe (G:)
2. Logical - FAT - WinMe (H:)
I would like to add another Linux Native partition, but I can't add anymore primary partitions (I'd gladly get rid of that blasted extended partition, but I need it). So my question is, is it possible to put all of your linux partitions into an extended partition (as logical partitions)? I'd like this to be my new scheme:
1) Primary - FAT32 - Windows ME (C:)
2) Primary - Extended*
1. Logical - Linux Swap - Swap (Red Hat)
2. Logical - ext2 - Linux Native (/) (Red Hat)
3. Logical - ext2 - Linux Native (/) (Another distro)
4. Logical - FAT - WinMe (D:)
5. Logical - FAT - WinMe (E:)
6. Logical - FAT - WinMe (F:)
7. Logical - FAT - WinMe (G:)
8. Logical - FAT - WinMe (H:)
Will this work? I'm putting all of my linux partition inside one extended partition. And another question. My linux partitions are past the 1024 cylinder, so don't I need a boot partition? I talked to techinal support (Red Hat) and they said that this wasn't necessary in my case. I assume it's because that limitation only occurs in older computers...
Thanks for the feedback. =)
