I seem to have about 4 or 5 desktops installed (selectable from an icon) but this seems to be slowing down my already slow machine. How do I turn these off and revert to a single desktop?
Thanks
Shaun

If so do this: open /etc/inittab and go to untill you see a line like this: 2:23:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty2 i have 6 of thses, just comment out the last few. If you are talking about graphical desktops, you need to tell yus which window manager you are running. I use KDE, and for KDE do this: right click on those little screens with numbers on them that are in the toolbar, and select preferneces. justlinux.com
