Can someone point me in the right direction for Linux Radeon 8500LE drivers? I had redhat 8.0 installed and the ati drivers failed miserably for 3d rendering  i'm downloading mandrake 9.0 and i'm gona try that.. has anyone had any experiance with this?

I've seen many threads on this but none of them really help me out...

Have you tried installing ATI's drivers?

ATI (http://mirror.ati.com/support/drivers/linux/radeon-linux.html?cboOS=LinuxXFree86&cboProducts=RADEON+8500LE&eula=&choice=agree&cmdNext=Next)

i used ati's drivers in redhat 8.0.. i could never get 3d rendering to work.. i downloaded mandrake 9.0 and i'm going to install it see if that fixes it.

again ati sucks.. they have no support whatsoever and i even emailed them.. they replied that they do not provide support for linux so i'm getting no help from them.

Theres a similar thread posted by Raid157 (something like that) about all the trouble he went through with his radeon 8500. but i didn't receive any of the errors he/she got. installation seemed fine but when i displayed gl info, it said 3d rendering = no .

maybe there are some kind of unofficial drivers out there?

thanks in advance =D
