complete, simple network

i have a simple network built with my friends to play games, communicate, surf on the net, etc
till now, i was a ädept of windows :( but that thing changed..
we are 4 guys in the network
i´m using mandrake 9.0
please (i a very newbie begginer :) ) , tell me how could i configurate samba so i can communicate with them throught the protocol that WinPopup uses (i found a linux-compatible program, almost a clone of winpopip, LinPopup :) ) and how to acces their shares (i think this i know already..)
a howto or a tutorial would be very-welcomed :)

This is kinda late but I was searching the archives and thought I might help.

From what I read on samba you need this option set in Global section:
message command = /usr/local/bin/linpopup "%f" "%m" %s; rm %s

This must be exactly as typed above, I copy directly out of man linpopup
