What happend when you first installed mandrake 9.0 did you attempt to setup a printer during the install process?

have you checked your kicker menu under the configuration section & tried to use the cups admin tool. This tool will help you setup the printer via a web based interface. If the tool does not launch you can download the cups software from here http://www.cups.org/software.html. you will need to download this package ghostscript-cups-7.05.5-0.i386.rpm
:D

post back if you need further help

The scanner loads up but when a search is done it says that mandrake 9 does not support this item

I tried to set up a Scanjet 2200c and had no luck with mandrake. Go to the mandrake control center under hardware and click on the scanner button. It will ask you to put in the CD and install XSane. If it doesn't work it never will. There is something messed up with the Kernel mandrake is using. I know it says it is supported on their website but it is marked in yellow which means they don't know it works for sure. I racked my brains for two weeks trying to get it to work and no matter what I tried it wouldn't. I found through personal experience that their hardware list is untrustworthy in some ways. I have seen four or more people on this forum say their HP scanners would not work with mandrake 9.0 and I have not seen any that say it does. The stupid thing is the Printer/Scanner combo's do work.
