PPP is borked!!!

I am using wvdial in Debian 2.2 and it dials, connects then says starting ppp
PPP failed (exit signal 1) I think, it could be 2.
It tells me to check the log files in /var/log. There is nothing PPP related there. I have been using windows for the net for ages now. Help me please.

I had a problem with wvdial when I first installed Debian... I ended up using pppconfig to configure my internet account and then use the command:

pppd call <AccountNameHere>

As far as wvdial goes, I am not sure of the difference between it and using pppd directly, but using pppd directly works for me. :)
