cable modem USB connection not working

ML 9.0 w/ w2k dual boot not recongizing RCA cable modem USB connection. I can connect using ethernet card and running the control center wizard. I am using a usb 2.0 hub pcmcia card which is recognized by kernel.
(the usb card covers the other pcmcia slot, hence i can't use the ethernet card at the same time)

I get init usb controller (ehci - hcd) (insmod errors can be caused by...) error while booting. but other devices connected to the hub are working.

Any help will be appreciated..

Don't quote me on this but i don't think USB2 support is ready for Linux yet....possibly it is, but you might have to customize your kernel to use it. :(
