help with open office and graphics

I'm making a tri fold brchure and wish to insert a photo from a file. every time i try to this the program locks up and i have to log off and log on again. the strange thing is, I have done it once already with no problem. I copied a photo from a web site and inserted it into the brochure. I cant remember what format the first photo was but the second one i want to use is a JPEG. does anyone have any ideas?

Memory problem? Lack of memory? Corrupt jpeg?

Try opening a new document and inserting the smallest jpeg you can find. Then try working up to larger and larger ones, see if that causes the lockup (keep adding them to the same file)

Try a new file and insert the same image that has been giving you trouble up until now, see if it causes problems there.

Try inserting another image into your original file.

What I'm trying to do is tie-break between the hardware, OS, open office, your existing document and the jpeg file - you get the idea ...

It would give us more to go on if you can give us some details from this type of tests - a pointer towards what the problem might be.
