Hi.
OK, I've been frolicking with penguins almost a year so far. Time has come to do more serious stuff.
Webservers, and get people up-and-running on Linux. Even feel comfortable to give free 2-hour briefings to schools, local "Chamber-of-Commerce" and small business groups, to give an awareness of linux. I reckon it's close enough for the desktop. At least, for the apps. I've seen most people running (WP, Powerpoint, web browsing)
(Once I move house after Christmas, www.linuxforall.org (mine!!) will do exactly that - promoting Linux, and testimonials. Definitely non-geek).

But, I want/need to set up webservers, etc.
Being very conscious that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing I really need a step-by-step guide to security.
OK, I know there's lots out there, but just missing one point could leave me wide open.
System is RH 8, wanna use Apache /webmin via ssl.
Suggestions/ biblography gratefully received.
Thanks, all.
-Andy

P.S. Forgot one point. Does anyone know a website that'll bash the crap out of my ports? Like Gibson Research, but more (all?) ports. Beats insulting the local script kiddie....

First place to start in Linux security would be www.netfilter.org/documentation/index.html.

For a pretty good port scan, www.dslreports.com/scan.
