I need to set up a relatively secure FTP server on a RH71 server. What is the best/easiest to setup? I've read some info on setting up Guest FTP with chroot using wu_ftpd, but I couldn't get it to work.

Dark Ninja 09-24-2001, 07:34 PM If you are going STRICTLY for security, here are some tips to follow: 1. No anonymous or guest logins. They are a fun thing to have - if you are trying to break in. 2. Make sure you don't allow people to have access to directories that you don't want them to get into. 3. If you are running distrobutions that can download security updates (Mandrake for example) make sure you have the latest version of the FTP server you are running, to prevent it from being exploitable. I found PROFTP, to be the easiest to use as an FTP server. Check out Tucows, or other Linux sites for good reviews. Dark Ninja justlinux.com
