It seems like the general Linux community are a bunch of leftist socialist/commies/Anarchists? How true is this?
hehe

Seriously, I am running Mandrake 7.2 and it runs beautifully. Here is a stupid newbie question . . .

I installed Star Office so that my fiance could use it with her log in name, but how come if I install it as root it wont let either of us run it. It keeps trying to install again.

I'd have to install Star Office 3 times to get it to work with root, my login, and my fiance's login. Prolly a stupid question but I need it for school since I dont have MS Word anymore (Thank God)

where did you install it?

as it may have been installed in your own directory, i havent played with staroffice in a while as it hogs the memory something rotten, and abiword works fine.

if you put it in a commonly accessible directory like /usr/local/ then you should be ok, and maybe change the executable to be run by all?

You need to install it with the /net option. Eg:

whatever.bin /net

This will do the network install. After that each individual user needs to run the installer. Read the documentation that came with it. The full instructions are there somewhere.

Once installed with /net, (read the .pdf that comes with the progs), you have to lauch installation while logged has the user that wants to use it ... (You can do it for each user) So, it installs the local files needed
