Hey,

Got a quick few questions about one way cable modems. Basically I am running Redhat 7.3 on the machine and using Adelphia as my service provider. We have one way cable modems because we live in the sticks, but anyways, I was searching around on Redhat.com and found a link that pertained to me, however I found this:

http://www.europe.redhat.com/documentation/HOWTO/Cable-Modem/hybrid.php3

Now if you click on the link in the FAQ for Adelpha (it's the first one), the site is no longer operational, so I was looking for some information on getting this to work. Any help would be appreciated!

Please do not crosspost your questions. Pick the most appropriate forum that relates to your topic and post once.

Sometimes we don't know the answer to all questions or the ones that do may not be online at the time. Just be patient.

Thank-you for understanding.

Are they that different from the normal cable modems? How do they work?

I did get quite a few hits from a G4L search for 'Adelphia' (http://www.google.com/linux?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=Adelphia&btnG=Google+Search) that may help.

Sheesh, talk about plagiarism, there must be a hundred or more copies of the same document all over the net!

Anyway, one of my favourite sponge site (soaks up everyone elses work and stores it for anyone else to grab) have what I believe to be the document you are looking for. It has full instructions for setting up the modem under Linux, all that's missing is the specific IP addresses and phone numbers for Adelphia which you should be able to get from your ISP.

Take a look at http://sunsite.ulatina.ac.cr/Unix/Linux/Splack/splack-current/docs/linux-2.4.18-rc4/networking/

It's a long document and its slow to load, so be patient.

Hope that's the one you need!!
