Is Linux-Mandrake 8.1 going to utilize the ext2fs, or do I need to convert my ext2fs to ext3fs or to one of the other file systems? Is this going to be fairly simple? Can I upgrade directly from 8.0 to 8.1? :)

It's extremely simple to add ext3 support to an ext2 filesystem since all you need to do is add a journal. You won't have any problems upgrading that will involve your use of ext2. justlinux.com
