I ended up getting the asus a7v266-c mobo w/ sound
usb works too !
2000xp processor
geforce4 mx440 vid card
512mb kingston ram

all work great ! red hat 7.3 loaded in about 30min
there is a tuning problem with the memory. i will start another thread for that.
