Can anyone give me any information on what I have to do to install Mandrake 7.2 on a system consisting of Asus A7V board with Ultra ATA 100 controller chip (showing as SCSI) and two 46+ gig hard drives (ultra ata100-7200rpm). I have Win 98 on primary drive and second is clear (formatted FAT32) and I want to install there...but, when trying to install..Mandrake locks up at "Do you have any SCSI devices"..and if you say no it just loops (like your lie'n to me) and if you say yes..there's no Ultra ATA 100 devices listed there) and you can't install!
"Can anyone help me with this?" Please!

You can try the Ultra66 NHF (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/hardware/udma66.html) that will also work for ATA100. You need to find out what to use for ide2=... etc. using cat /proc/pci

If you can, try Mandrake 8.0 as it is supposed to support ATA100 out of the box.

This is also a place worth looking (and a link I have posted here in numerous threads on this topic): Installing LM 7.2 on an UDMA 100 Drive and Asus A7V (http://www.mandrakeuser.org/docs/hardware/hbits5.html)

Cheers :)
