Printing error

I just switched from Mandrake to Slakware and one of the first problems I notice was in Slakeware I can't print .pdf files!! Printing .txt files was no problem but when i try to print .pdf files the printer just spews out rubbish. Anyone else has this problem and succesfully curb it please help out here.

I had problems with the version of apsfilter that came with Slackware 8, but they seemed cured by going back to the one that came with Slack 7.1.
