I am looking to install the Edge web engine thingy... I have all requirements installed (php, mysql, apache, etc). When I start the installation script the first thing it asks me is what to connect to mysql as (default is root) and what the password is. If I tell this program what my root password is, how is it kept? Is it secure or could and newbie level hacker get in and get that info? Along those lines, if I were to create a new user to use mysql instead of using root, what type of access, permissions, priviledges does that account need to have to work right?
Now for the truly embarassing newbie question: If it is just easier to create a new user, how do I do that? I have never created a new user from command line and I wouldn't know how to manage the created user from command line either. I have always used the GUI to make users, but I have just set up my multiple computers so that I can only SSH into the web server. The server is running Mandrake 8.
Thanks!
