After a wild power shut down and a painful reboot (fscheck as single) we now get a linux system (SuSE 6.3) stalling (chocking ?) here and there.
My question is :
- what could we do to spot the problem ?
- which traps could we set up to trap the faulty part of our system ?
- what should we do to have a smooth running system ?
may be my last question is too much, but suggests about the first two's are welcome.

Which problem? The crashes after the power loss, or the data loss which is (possibly) causing the crashes?

To avoid this data loss, you'll probably need to get a journalling filesystem. Currently, the most stable one is ReiserFS - www.namesys.com (http://www.namesys.com)

IIRC, the latest version of SuSE gives you the option of using it during the install.

As for the crashes, the foolproof way to fix it would be to re-install. I know that's the typical MS solution, but I don't know of any other sure-fire way.
