Getting sound with a onboard soundcard in mandrake 7.2

can anyone help me i am having trouble getting my onboard soundcard to work in mandrake 7.2 it is a VIA AC97 it detects it in Harddrake but it just will not work thanks in advance

If you can get into your BIOS, go in there and check the setting for PnP OS. Disable that or set it NO if it is on YES. That worked for me....

If that don't work, then go get the Alsa Drivers (http://www.alsa-project.org/). I have that same sound card and I neva was able to get it working!

But Alsa got it going. ;)
