Ok been wanting to play DVDs in Linux since I tryed Mandrake last year. Following the instrutions on this site:

I was able to get DVDs to play using Xine. Had to change the sound driver to get sound working right. Now I can play DVDs, avi, asf, etc without having to boot to Windows.
