I recently upgraded from a BX Mb to a KT133, since then, whenever I run xmms, my system will eventually come to a screaching halt (everything freezes and I have to reboot). I'm running a Turtle beach card with the aureal drivers, and I never had a problem on my celeron system. Any thoughts?? (xmms version 1.2.4)

Just guessing, don't have enough info, really, but this sure sounds like the IRQ's got assigned differently based on PCI positions when you changed mbds. Maybe do a procinfo and look carefully at the assignments. You know, you can just move a PCI card to another slot to get a different IRQ from the BIOS as it posts. If there's a conflict, this could be one symptom of it. HTH, Ray

here is my system: abit kt7-raid (raid is off right now), thunderbird 1GHz, Micron 256 PC 133 Ram, two networkcards (they are sharing IRQs according to the bios), Elsa Erazor X (geforce 256) video card, and a Turtle Beach Montego (Montego I) using aureal linux drivers from sourceforge ver. 1.1.1. According to the bios, the sound card is sharing resources with the serial ports (if I'm reading the info correctly), but I am not using the serial ports for anything. Also note, I Quake 3 used to run great on my old celeron system, now it will not load at all in linux (don't know why...I installed it, ran it once, where it promptly crashed my system, and now it will simply not start). Quake 3 is also broken in windows (again, it crashes the system quite hard.

If you have any suggestions, I am all ears

forgot to mention, running mandrake 7.2, and xmms crahes the fastest (sometime it takes 5 or 6 minutes of playing to bring down the system) when netscape 4.76 is running. Though it will eventually crash even if nothing else is running.
