no-linux policy, so i want to see if there is just a file or something i can chage to say i have windows or something.

Shadoglare 08-12-2001, 10:52 PM I'm pretty sure the fact that you're running linux, is in itself, hiding the fact that you're running linux. Basically they should show that the IP is being used, and may show your hostname, but it's not going to say "running linux" anywhere. About the only thing I can think of that you could do to actually fool the network into thinking you're running a Windows box is to run Samba on it - even if just to use the netbios portion and not actually share anything. Duh 08-14-2001, 08:42 AM i knew javascript and such can grab your OS. i didnt know if a netware server did or not. i guess we'll see what happens. dvdnut 08-14-2001, 09:30 AM php can do it just make sure you aint got any obvious servers running on it someone port scans you and finds telnet ssh ftp http X might think that something fishy is going on justlinux.com
