Im starting the debian installation....i just wanted to ask which flavor could you recommend me.

I run a Piii500mhz
256mb
2.5gig (for linux)
nvidia tnt2.

I plan to learn to use it as my desktop OS not for any server purposes. Thanks for you help in advance.

You should be able to use Debian 3.0 and just don't use KDE or Gnome for a desktop, they can be memory intensive. Windowmaker comes with it and maybe a few other light weight GUIs.

Customize your kernel for your hardware and you should be okay.

I used an almost identical box with Linux up until about 4 months ago and it ran very well. GNOME and KDE both ran well on it once I upgrade from 64MB RAM to 256MB :) Ofcourse, Debian was on it :)

You should try Caldera 3.1.1 workstation, It is 100% BETTER than Debian or Gentoo......

If you say so, but i kinda like Debian even though i've never used it. Call it, love at firts sight. :D

By the way, i downloaded the network installation cd
